Can you get Pat O' gold items from fighting?

Okay so I just had to post this. I was fighting Nightshade on Monday and one of the items i got was a clover wand. I didn't go to the Nightshades chest and was pleasantly surprised to receive this item. I'm not a crowns player nor did I ever subscribe, so where did this random object come from? If you have any ideas, can you comment please?
