How to take a Screenshot in Wizard101

Basic
Press the PrintScreen* button on your keyboard. This will take a screenshot of your entire screen, so you will want to be running Wizard101 fullscreen.

The file will be saved in your C:/Program Files/KingsIsle Entertainment/Wizard101/Bin folder (this could vary if you installed Wizard101 elsewhere).

Alternatively, if you are running Wizard101 fullscreen, you can also press PrintScreen, then open MS Paint and use Ctrl+V to paste the image. Save the file.

Advanced Tips
If you are running Wizard101 windowed, press Alt+PrintScreen. This will take a screenshot only of the currently active window.

Open MS Paint and press Ctrl+V to paste. Save the file.

Pressing Ctrl+G will make all buttons and bubbles invisible. Remember to press Ctrl+G again after you take the screenshot, or you will not see dialogue windows during normal play.

The scroll wheel on the mouse can adjust zoom slightly.

Click and drag with your mouse to adjust camera angle.

*Where is the PrintScreen button? On my keyboard, it's next to the F12 button. However, it may be different on your keyboard, especially if you have a laptop. In general, look buttons that say "Scroll Lock" and "Pause/Break". "PrintScreen" or "PrtScn" should be nearby. This has been an update from the Age of Dinosaurs, also known as DOS. :-D

I can't yous X-fire because -- --- --- ------ I don't have a PrintScreen button or a PRTSRN Button. I heard of "Double Command" where you can change centain Mac keys into Windows keys though. All I know is that Command,shift,8 makes a pic on mac and not when playing windows. @Christina LOL :D

Yes, I sponged the original blog post off someone else. Fallon has great ideas for screenshots, videos etc. via Xfire. The only reason I don't use it, is that I don't actually want to keep track of my total time on W101. Or should I say, I don't want a permanent record of that time in case somehow my husband hacks my account and finds out for himself.

Pressing Print Screen on my computer puts my screenshots in a Wizard101 folder tucked away in the "My Documents" folder. I believe this was changed with the latest update that brought us mounts.

@Samuel - If you are using Windows Parallels, the instructions should be the same.

However here are Mac-specific tips for taking Screenshots:
The PRINT SCREEN key allows you to capture the Desktop or individual windows. You'll have to look for this key on your keyboard, it's placement varies with the type of keyboard.

To capture the entire screen:

* Press the PRINT SCREEN key. The image will be placed on the clipboard.
* Open an application such as Microsoft Word, pull down the Edit menu and choose Paste. Or, press Ctrl-V to paste.

To capture the current window on your screen:

* Press ALT + PRINT SCREEN key. A screen shot your the currently selected window will be placed on the keyboard

I use Xfire to take my screenshots though and I LOVE IT. http://diaryofawizard.com/main/2009/06/27/diary-of-a-wizard-on-xfir...

I use it for all my screenshots, video, broadcasting and best of all...it tracks my game play.

Sadly, I can't help answer this question. I recommend, if you haven't already, that you join the community at www.wizard101central.com. Then search the messages there or start a new thread asking the question. :-D
